Tyler & Katie Smith were both born and raised in Marshalltown and have continued to raise their family here. Tyler has a background in management and custodial services. Katie holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a background working in a veterinary practice that also offered dog boarding. ​Katie begun offering pet sitting services to family members 20 years ago during her teenage years which ranged from taking care of dogs and cats to taking care of goats and horses. 

 

 In 2008 during her time working as a veterinary technician she expanded to offering pet sitting services to non-family clients under the business name Pawsitive Pet Sitting.  In 2020 Tyler and Katie opened their home to allow for a small in-home boarding operation, Highland Hollow Boarding & Pet Sitting, while they worked towards their dream of operating a dog boarding & daycare facility of their own. ​Their dream became a reality in 2023 when the opportunity to lease the old Man's Best Friend boarding facility became available.

 

Tyler runs the day to day at the facility and Katie helps on evenings and weekends while continuing to work for Casey's Store Support Center in Ankeny, IA.
